So here is my first proper post on here, as I have done a wee bit of shopping lately. Sadly, not TOO much for me, because after all tis the season to be giving.
I am a sucker for a gimmick, or a new product. Often I buy new products even though there is a couple that I KNOW for a fact work. I'm a bit of a risk-taker, (this is the only aspect of my life in which I am slightly rebellious, so sad) which I know a lot of people don't like when it comes to putting things on their face (and for good reason). In fact, I should really be more careful as I do suffer from eczema and as the title of my blog would suggest - pale.
I'll do these a post at a time over the next few days because I do tend to go on and I don't wanna do one post with 9 billion pages. So I shall begin with the product I was most excited about...
L'OREAL PARIS True Match LUMI Shade: Neutral 1-2 Classic Ivory |
The foundation is the latest addition to the "True Match" line, a technology L'OREAL have been using in the facial products for some years. They profess that the True Match line adapts to your individual skin tone. What I personally like about the True Match line is that you can find a shade that is suitable for the tone of your skin. They offer shades in warmer tones, colder tones, and neutral shades if you're not sure your skin swings in one particular direction (lucky you, you can pull off pretty much any colour under the sun). You can tell what tone family the shade belongs in by the colouring of the dots on the bottle - red for warm, blue for cold and an orange for neutral. Last time I used a True Match foundation, I went for a colder shade, but I found it slightly too pale for my actual skin tone, which surprised me. Normally my issue is the foundation being that little bit too dark and appearing orange on my skin (not a hot look). This time, with the LUMI, I went for a neutral shade which so far seems a little better but is still not my perfect match.
I do tend to favour liquid foundations as a rule, which is what this one is - and I love love love foundations that come with a pump. Although I do apply my foundation with a brush and only use my fingers to blend, I am still a clumsy fool and therefore prefer pumps because they provide no room for spilling or over-usage of product! So top marks for packaging.
I like, as I stated above, the availability of shades and tones with this product and the entirety of L'OREAL'S True Match line. Top marks again for that.
The product itself comes out very sheer, and if you still feel it's too glowy or dewy they can regulate it with the application of powder over it. I liked it, it made a refreshing change to my favoured matte looks of the past and if you're too lazy to apply a highlighter this is perfect for you. I'm a fan of anything that makes me look awake when I'm actually half asleep (read: 7am Monday morning).
The SPF 20 is a great feature in the sense it's skin protection without forethought but it can lead to the dreaded "ghostface" look in photos which I know my friends hate. I haven't been photographed wearing it so I'll let you guys know when I do!
All in all, a satisfying product from L'OREAL who usually do not disappoint. A solid drugstore/high street buy. If I had to rate this product on a scale of 1-10, I would probably go with a strong 6/7. But I've only used it twice, so I might upper or lower that at a later date, so far so good though. I paid $21.99 for this product (without tax) and that equates to my homeland's currency (pounds sterling) as £13.69. I'm not sure if it's available in the UK yet? Like I said, I live in Canada now so the North American side of things is all I tend to see nowadays. Let me know if you've seen it! I'll upload a picture of it on my actual skin soon.
Thank you for reading, more posts to come soon!
